A legend in the apple orchards of the West Country. This Kingston Black Aperitif from the Somerset Cider Brandy Company is a blend of cider brandy and the juice of one of the finest and rarest of vintage cider apples. Hazel in colour, clean and fresh on the nose with red apple juice, heather honey, a light touch of caramel and orange zest and copper pennies. Very nicely married with the spirit. It is pristine in the mouth too, with a lovely fresh brightness of acidity that pierces the sweetness and lifts everything up. Apple and golden raisin and Mango slices and Dundee cake flavours combine to make this a very drinkable and fresh take on this style and again the weighting of juice and spirit is delightful.
The farm at Burrow Hill sits among 180 acres of cider apple and perry pear orchards at the base of Burrow Hill. The farm has been pressing cider and perry for over 200 years. In 1989 they were granted the UK’s first ever full cider-distilling license and they have been distilling award winning cider into Somerset Cider Brandy ever since.
